629 HIGHLAND

LOCATION: Old Fourth Ward, Atlanta, GA

SIZE:           8,300 SF

STATUS:      Completed 2019

This project consists of the redevelopment of an existing 8,300 SF church building into loft office space, with minor site and exterior accessibility improvements. The site, located at 629 Highland Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. The project called for a rethinking and repositioning of an older, three-story structure that was no longer viable as a place of worship.  We modified the layout of the building to increase flexibility, allowing for multiple, smaller tenants with better street engagement.  The redevelopment approach envisioned either office or retail tenants as potential users.

New glazed openings in the existing masonry wall were added to the North Elevation to improve tenant entry and improve interior daylighting. Existing openings on the East and West facades were increased to achieve the same goal. New metal framed canopies were added above new tenant entries to better engage Corley Street.  A larger, outdoor entry deck was added to the upper floor to increase usable outdoor space for the main level tenant too.
